Help Us Choose the Next Show!

Hi friends,

The Board is meeting early next month to have preliminary discussions about the next show. While the final decision won’t be made until August, we want to solicit your help. We want to make sure the show is one that people are excited to do, so we’re asking you to send us ideas.

We were taught this year to never qualify a production, but a few things are kept in mind when we choose a show. We have to consider the size of our stage, the gender breakdown of a general show for us, the fact that we like to feature our young players, and the appropriateness of a show in a church setting. Believe it or not, that leaves plenty of shows in contention.

Send your ideas for next year’s show to shows@stbernadetteplayers.com by April 30. Include the show title, a description, and why you think it’d be good for our group.

Maureen T’s Cast Party

Ok, last notice about one of the Maureen’s cast parties – sorry, this is my fault for leaving this out.

If you are going to go to Maureen T’s party, please let her know what you plan to bring. She just doesn’t want to end up with 7 veggie trays. Thanks!

Videos / Strike Set / Sell Tickets

A few notes from our run yesterday -

Video – you can order videos by filling out the Godspell Video Order Form – bring to practice on Thursday!

Cast parties – all adult cast members are invited to parties at Maureen Tinney’s on Friday evening (this is a Bring Your Own Party, please bring snacks or drinks you would like to share), and Maureen Russell’s on Saturday Evening (Maureen R. is asking for $20 per person for the party. If you would like to bring something instead, or have questions, please ask Maureen Russell).

Fill the house – JP will dress up if we fill the house on Friday. There are 250 seats and 40 of us – if everyone sells 6 tickets, we are ALMOST there! Let’s fill the house.

Strike set after close on Saturday – everyone needs to help. Bring screwguns and work gloves. The more people we have, the quicker everything will get done.

Bring scripts back – If you have an actual script from the show, please erase it and bring it back. Give it to Mark.

Cast Parties

As a reminder, the Maureens will be hosting this weekend’s cast parties: Tinney on Friday and Russell on Saturday. Maureen T. will be running her party the same way Kelly Anne did…please contribute whatever food and drink you want to ease her burden of preparing for the party. Maureen R’s cast party will be similar to parties of years past, with her handling the food and beverage duties herself. If you’re planning to attend, please give Maureen R. $10 to $20 per guest on Thursday to help defray the cost or her party, depending on how much you plan on enjoying the night.

Here is the recording of Light of the World with the rhythm at the beginning.

I wouldn’t worry too much about getting the number of “law and the prophets” correct – the way they go into the song is different than what we do. You’ll notice some things about the song are slightly different (there’s no claps, for example) – it’s a really fun version, though.

Props We Still Need (and Supporting Your Castmates)

Mark handed me this list of props that we still need to secure for the show. If you have any of them or creative ideas on where to get them for cheap or free, please let Mark know ASAP.

Also, as a reminder, there are two chances for you to see your castmates perform tonight: “Seussical, Jr.,” featuring some of our young cast, is opening at Drexel Hill Middle School at 7 p.m.; and “Bye Bye Birdie,” featuring Kelly Anne and music directed by Eric (and featuring some “Joseph” cast members), opens at Players Club of Swarthmore at 8 p.m. Get out there and enjoy some great theater, then come back inspired to kick butt on the Bernies stage!

Cabaret and Ziti Dinner

On Saturday, February 20, bring the family and join the Players for an evening of fun, music, food, and camaraderie! Enjoy a wonderful ziti dinner with all the trimmings, fabulous dessert, and be entertained all night by the Players while you dine. There will be prize baskets raffled throughout the night! The evening begins at 6 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the door. Adults $10, children under 12 $5.

Other than the Ziti, everything can be brought in to Dress Rehearsal on Friday night. Please pay attention to the specific products, amounts and sizes assigned! Dress Rehearsal will begin around 6:30 on Friday night. While not rehearsing, we will be setting up the tables, hanging decorations, etc…
